Ezra has some great tricks, but he stops all his cuteness as soon as we bring over the video camera. We have yet to capture his babbling because he finds the video camera more intriguing than his own voice. This little still action photo sequence shows his attempts at sitting up (with support). He is still pretty round and squishy, so it doesn't last long. Alas, cuter as video, but I think you get the idea.

Behold Your Little Ones...
**Attention: The following content is rated "UC" for Uber Cute.**
The scriptures contain many references to children, so instead of my usual captioning, I found a few scriptures which speak of our "little ones".
"...and he [Jesus] took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them... And he spake unto the multitude, and said unto them: Behold your little ones." (3 Nephi 17:21, 23)
"Now this is not all; little children do have words given unto them many times, which confound the wise and the learned." (Alma 32:23)
"For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father." (Mosiah 3:19)
"And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them... Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me." (Matthew 18:2, 4-5)
"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." (Matthew 5:9)

Blessing Weekend
In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, babies are given a name and blessing by the authority of the priesthood. Most often, the blessing is performed by the father of the baby, and other family and close friends are invited to join in the circle for the blessing. The blessing begins by officially stating the baby's name, and then according to the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, counsel, warnings, and promises are made specific to that baby. It is a very sweet occasion. Most of the time, the baby being blessed is dressed in white. Baptism is not performed at this time; in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we believe that babies are innocent and incapable of sin. Baptism is reserved until a child reaches the age of accountability and is capable of understanding the difference between right and wrong. The age of accountability is age eight, and at that time a child, who is prepared to receive this ordinance, is baptized by immersion by the authority of the priesthood. This past Sunday our little boy was blessed in our sacrament meeting. Several members of my family made the drive to be with us; and all of the Colorado Kuzmich's joined with us too. For most of Sunday afternoon/evening we were hosting fifteen people in our little apartment--and it worked! It was WONDERFUL to be with so much family. We love you all! Thanks for making it a great day!

Governing Dynamics
The ability to hold one's head upright may seem elementary; however, to an infant, it can be likened unto mastering the violin with one arm tied to a foot. Bravo!

Afternoon Visit
My sister-in-law invited us over for a visit and some yummy Brazilian food, which was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! An added perk was getting the cousins together again. For about a half-hour period both boys were happy at the same time! We took some great pictures of the two little guys.
Hey cute babies, wave to your fans!
Hooray for cousins!
What a handsome pair!

Double the Blessings
My sister-in-law in Colorado had her first baby just eleven days before me. Her little boy was blessed last Sunday and the cousins met officially for the first time. What a blessing to have two little angels come to earth at the same time! I am grateful to have family so near by, especially when we are experiencing such similar seasons of life.

A Special Visitor
My mom came for a week visit earlier in the month and did all manner of wonderful, helpful things. She did the laundry, cleaned the entire apartment, made dinner every night we didn't have it brought in, and finished several sewing projects for me. Mom also made me an early birthday dinner, took me clothes shopping, and made a delicious apple pie from scratch. She shared her mommy wisdom based on much experience and was a great support in my new parent naivety. It is amazing what an extra pair of hands can accomplish!
And of course, she took to her relatively new role as grandma very well. Thanks for the helping hands; we love you!

And Baby Makes Three
The idea of a family blog has been talked about for quite awhile. We are a little slow, but are finally official. The stall came in part over what to call the blog. I won't bore you with the details, but I think one evening we brainstormed for about 2 1/2 hours. The "about" page gives a little of the background for the why of our blog name.
No promises on how consistently we will be posting here. We both intend to keep our personal blogs and have this new blog as a united front to post about all things family. It seems fitting to begin the blog with a picture and a word or two about our little one's first family constitutional. Our neighborhood and its environs is the perfect fit for our family. It is one of those blessings that we didn't realize we had until after we had moved in and gone exploring. The maze of pathways, native areas, and public recreation space in this area make for wonderful evening walks. Just a few days after bringing our little boy home, we were out making the rounds with the stroller as ridiculously proud new parents. Our sweet little boy promptly fell asleep and enchanted us with his contented cooing. I like to think it was his way of communicating his approval.
